Hmmmm, Sheffield tears a tendon in his finger and can't bend the finger.

Sounds like the Tigers inherited the Twins bad injury luck from last year.

The report on Liriano from last Saturday by someone who saw it said he started off strong for a few pitches, then had control problems, walking Rivas on 4 straight pitches.

Then more control problems. Another 4-pitch walk. Then he picks it up with more of a full follow-through. He's looking strong at this point.

But in the 3rd he looks worn out, causing a mound visit by Anderson.

He finishes strong with 74 total pitches, but little if any sliders.

Hope he'll be ready soon.

other than Boof

He had one rough start and he's a problem? Does that mean Hernandez's one start indicates he's going to be the Cy Young winner?

Liriano pitched in the rain tonight. The guy behind him gave up four runs in 1.1 innings.

As for his last spring training start, for anyone who actually WATCHED it, the guy looked great; he did NOT look tentative. He spotted everything much better than expected.

Liriano spent tonight working on stuff, with little regards for the numbers. He pitched in the rain. Don't worry about him. When he gets up here, hopefully soon, he'll be just fine. In fact, give him three MLB starts and he'll be the ace of this staff.

And to all those Gomez bashers--me being one in ST--has anyone looked at the guy's BA and OBP??? He certainly isn't the problem. The problem right now (other than Boof and a poor start by Slowey) is Cuddy, Morneau, and Lamb. They look pathetic, and they're supposed to be the meat of the offense. Gomez has nothing to do with their ineptness thus far.

And, think what happens when they DO start hitting. We lost to one of baseball's best teams in a couple of one-run games. When this offense gets straightened out, when Slowey gets healthy and gets a few starts under his belt, when Liriano gets up here, and when the Twins realize Boof is nothing more than a reliever, this team can contend for a Wild Card spot. (Provided their bullpen shapes up as well.)

65 wins? No way, man. That's an idiot talking.
