I had a boss who, the day he joined came and told the team he has a great programmer in mind for some of the ongoing work. We were a small company and since we didn’t have a lot of programming work it made the programmer in the team very uncomfortable. Although the programmer wasn’t let go, the boss kept on passing paid projects to this outside consultant. Years later when he left and joined another company we came to know that he was let go because he was paying an outside consultant who actually was a staff of the company this boss had on the side.
