Have you ever had a co-worker or boss that stole your ideas? How did you deal with it?

I’ve had a coworker who discussed ideas in a meeting that I had privately expressed to him. Rather than trying to tell the boss what he was doing, I just figured that he wouldn’t last long. And I was right!

Yes I have been in that situation and it isn’t very fun. I had to pretty much ride it out and see how the co-worker handled everything and when it came down to it, they couldn’t deal with the ideas they had “stolen” because they really had no idea what to do.

I haven’t had this happen to me, but I could definately see where it would be a problem. I guess depending on what the idea was is how I would choose to deal with it. If it’s small, I’d probably let it slide for the sake of keeping the peace. But lets say I wrote an article for the newspaper, and somebody else put their name on it, watch out. It all comes down to not sweating the small stuff.
