Victim of a brutal job market?
Friday, June 27th, 2008 by pridgwayFrustrated job searchers often suffer from low self-esteem and financial hardship. In the current job market, it’s not uncommon for quality candidates to interview with more than 60 companies. As time passes, the job-seeker begins to believe he or she is the only one experiencing this frustration. However, you aren’t alone. Are you in this situation? Approximately how many interviews have you been on? Are you currently unemployed?

I am feeling quite frustrated with this job market… I’ve had interviews with 30 or so companies and have not landed a job yet. I do have a couple of 2nd interviews this week, so hopefully this is nearing the end of the process.
The job market is atrocious. I am not currently unemployed however am always looking.
Yes this is a very frustrating process being fresh out of college with little experience it seems there is always someone else more qualified. Being out of school for about 2 months I have been on around 15 interviews, a few with call backs too. At least I’m gaining interviewing experience.
I just landed a job, but interviews at more than 70 companies (many second interviews) and withdrew from one company’s process (after about 50 interviews) because I thought the job was too dreadful to do, and felt it likely I would be fired. 5 months total…
I have a slightly different perspective. For the past seventeen years I have been involved with job transition support groups. Just in the past two weeks we have had 11 individuals land new jobs from one group I help facilitate. Job search is a process which needs to be learned by everyone. People who follow the process and put forth the needed effort find jobs.
