Eclipse Records rocks again!

Finally! After a yearlong buildup, Eclipse Records is finally getting back into the live music business at its new location, 1922 University Av. W., St. Paul (but almost Minneapolis; click here for a map). Store owner Joe Furth essentially had to build a new venue inside his new store, hence the time it took. The shows will kick off Thursday night with one of the guys who grew up around the former location in the Mac-Groveland area, Martin Devaney, followed by a show on Friday with a band that was heavily involved in the old location, Superhopper. Then on Saturday, the Angel Mothers perform along with one of the best new bands in town, Baby Guts. A few groups I know nothing about are also performing each of those nights (Eclispe was always a good incubator for very-new talent).

Best of all: The shows are always, always, always all-ages. So put down your Playstations and come out and rock, kids. I swear it’s more fun than video carjackings and even video guitar games. Start time is 6 p.m. and cover will be $4 most nights.
