Look out, Tiger: Ernie Els is trying now

On his official web site, ernieels.com (which has nothing to do with eels, even if the spelling works out that way), golfer Ernie Els said he is ready to embark on a three-year plan to dominate the world … er … make a run at Tiger Woods. Some of the text: “I see 2007 is the start of a three-year plan, where I totally re-dedicate myself to the game. I want to win more majors and start giving Tiger a run for his money.” In other news, Phil Mickelson made no such statement.

I would like to offically announce that I am embarking on a three-year plan to make a run at Tiger’s wife.

Q)Who would win a fight between an Eel and a Tiger?

a) Eel
b) John Daly
c) Tiger

A)b. He would eat both of ‘em.

Rocket, if that wasn’t so dirty, it just might be the clubhouse leader for comment of the week. Alas, I want to use the comment of the week as a lead-in to the winner’s entry. Still, good plan.

Regarding Elin: I’ve seen her in person, from about two feet away. She is, without a doubt, the most stunningly beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. And I don’t even mean that in a lewd way. She’s just stupidly gorgeous. (If my wife is reading this, I’m sorry. But it’s true.)

Regarding Ernie: I’m sure Tiger sits back and chuckles to himself when he hears such things. Mostly because he knows he will be that much more motivated to demolish Els the next time they’re matched up.

Regarding Phil: Lay off C-Cup. He’s won a pair of green jackets, so he deserves to be included in any conversation about today’s greats. Els has a couple of U.S. Opens, but then so does Andy North. The Big Easy would give his left nut to have a Masters title.

The best Tiger Woods story you’ll ever read:

“Asked once how he hits that full-swing lob wedge from greenside rough and drops the ball dead at the hole, Woods said, “I hit it where there are no grooves.”

At the wedge’s rounded toe, outside the grooves, a crescent of smooth clubface is maybe a half-inch wide. As to how he swings at warp speed and gets that tiny slice of clubface precisely under a ball he can barely see, Woods said, “Feel.”"

That’s just scary.
