They love cannons more than anything else

That seems to be the gist of this rather disturbing story from the Seattle P-I (dug out by thebiglead.com). The upshot (pun intended): Boy fires cannon at football game; boy hurt by cannon; citizens angry at boy because his cannon-related injury might prevent further cannon firings; very little consideration given to maybe, you know, not firing cannons.

At time over the Holidays, I’ll have friends over from Philadelphia and N.Y. and when we watch the Vikes (why you ask ?) they often hoot and carry on about the Viking’s cannons and how much they remind them of Temple or Penn State some or other college teams. I used to defend this Vikes Golly Gee Shucks backwwoods character. I gave up doing that basically since by and large that characterization fits. So, Go Vikes !! and fire your cannons whenever you score. That way it will be quiet downtown.
