Boyfriend’s sister’s cousin’s dentist says A-Rod juicing

We love a good “A-Rod on steroids” story as much as the next guy, but we had to pause a minute when we read this report on the Worldwide Leader:
Jose Canseco says in his new book that he introduced Alex Rodriguez to a steroids distributor and that A-Rod pursued Canseco’s wife, according to the Web site of freelance writer Joe Lavin.
Lavin says on his Web site that he obtained the book, “Vindicated: Big Names, Big Liars, and The Battle to Save Baseball,” on Monday from a bookstore in Cambridge, Mass. The book is due to be released April 1.
Lavin writes Canseco’s book discusses A-Rod, Roger Clemens and Magglio Ordonez.
He says Canseco claimed he didn’t inject Rodriguez but “introduced Alex to a known supplier of steroids.” Lavin also says “Canseco claims that A-Rod was trying to sleep with Canseco’s wife.”
“I really, absolutely, have no reaction,” Rodriguez said Tuesday when asked about the claim relating to the steroids distributor. As far as the allegation regarding Canseco’s wife, Rodriguez responded: “I don’t know how to answer that.”
OK, so let’s get this straight: a writer somehow got a copy of a book a week early in Massachusetts, and what he says (which might or might not be true) he read in this book (which also might or might not be true) passes enough thresholds to be news to the biggest sports machine in the world? Hmmm. It’s all very much like this:
Um, he’s sick. My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.
Save Ferris. Save us all.

MLB cut a deal with Canseco. He has to discredit himself with more and more outrageous lies (”Rodriguez and my wife were in the closet making babies and I saw one of the babies and the baby looked at me”) until people stop taking him seriously and the steroid scandal turns into “The Outrageous Lies of Jose”. Crisis averted. I hear he gets a martial-arts reality show out of the deal.
Be sure to see Jose’s next book: “Comments made on Randball after 5:30p … Everyone Reads Them.”
