Ex-Viking Ryan Hoag on “The Bachelorette”

Josh tips us off to the news that Ryan Hoag, the former Gustavus receiver who has bounced around several NFL organizations and was briefly on the Vikings’ roster in 2004, is one of this year’s candidates on “The Bachelorette.” ABC has a picture but only lists him as “Ryan” and as a “professional football player,” but this Google image of Hoag seems to be a match, while this site is identifying him by his full name. In case you don’t know, “The Bachelorette is a reality program about a bunch of handsome dudes, which means we’ve never seen it. The new season apparently premieres on May 19. In any event, Hoag’s previous claim to fame, aside from tearing up the MIAC, was being “Mr. Irrelevant,” the last player chosen in the 2003 NFL draft by the Oakland Raiders. Fans of “The Bachelor” might recall QB Jesse Palmer taking a stab at that show in its fifth season. Wait, did we just type “fans of ‘The Bachelor’?”

Actually, I just went to school with Ryan and a mutual friend forwarded me the link. It made me chuckle, so I figured you all would get a good laugh out of it as well. Longtime lurker… figured it was about time I contributed.

Ok…Ryan is one of the cockiest, weirdest looking guys I have ever met. He is not “professional” FB player. You have to play for someone to actually take that title. He is a wannabe and still lives in his high school and college glory. He still comes back to campus and walks around waiting to for people to oooohhhh and ahhhhh at him. Get a life! Get a job! I hope Deanna laughs at him and kicks him to the curb.
I’m afraid I’m going to have to agree with the previous poster. I’ve seen Ryan wandering ever since he graduated, while many other GAC grads are taking advantage of their education and doing amazing things. Way to aim high, buddy. Maybe after you get eliminated you can go hang out in the Dive with the freshman girls…
Watching Ryan on tv last night only confirmed the total loser he is. I mean…share the blanket buddy. The whole virgin thing…lets be real. Do you really need to gather names. A wimps way of saying…it is really small and I suck in bed. Another way for Ryan to get ATTENTION. Imagine that. Come back to reality buddy.

Hoag is da bomb. Everyone is just hatin. Back off him. He’s done a lot more in his life than any of you haters ever will.
Anyone that thinks he’s “da bomb” Has not met him. I’m not gonna lie… if I could bum around the NFL and make some bank on my good looks for a few years, I would too. But that doesn’t mean you gotta act the way he does. He’s a d-bag and anyone that’s ever had to be on the same field as him knows that. I can’t wait to see him break down and cry on national tv.
Ryan ripped through only the cupcake MIAC teams, look at his stats against any defense with talent. He’s great sprinter that was a very average football player, and to top it off one of the least classiest guys I have ever met. He found his way back to the GAC sidelines after being cut only to talk crap to the opposing team’s players. I’d normally agree that people with negative comments are hating, but just not the case.
Its true - Any former Gustie that went from ‘00-’08 would know what a loser this guy happens to be. Once he got cut after he was drafted he came back to campus and ‘worked with the d-backs’ a.k.a. taking reps away from freshman receivers who could have benefited from the work. not a class act, by any means, he is still mr. irrelevant in so many ways.
