Scott Ullger apparently doesn't know the difference between baseball and softball, as the two guys he got thrown out at home today MIGHT have been safe if they were running around a softball diamond.

Jon, I don't really think that any other team's management is stupid enough to give the Twins anything for Crain. So I'm sure I'm stuck cringing for years to come.

Rand, I'll explain myself in order to eliminate the contradiction.

I don't think Crain is all that talented. I think he's limited. He suffers from Kyle Lohse syndrome. "All potential, disappointing performance" Crain had 1.5 good seasons and has used the Twins' love of potential against them since that time (a la Kyle Lohse). After those 1.5 good seasons, teams around the league considered Crain to be "closer material". I wish they would have traded him about 2.5 years ago when he was actually worth something. Now I think they'd be lucky to get a career minor leaguer in trade for him, unless they can find themselves another Krivsky to take up their castoffs.

So the only way Crain will fetch anything in a trade now, is if some other GM deludes himself into thinking that Crain is actually going to be something more than he is (a reliever with a decent fastball, so-so control, and a proclivity for giving up runs and leads).

He was worth so much more before he revealed what he was. I just want him gone because I hate to have to cringe every time that he enters a game, because I know that, more often than not, the Twins will be behind when he leaves.

Poor Dave has fallen victim to the same thinking that's informed every fan-suggested trade since the dawn of time: "Every other team is run by subhuman idiots who haven't the capability to do any scouting."

Of course, then there's the Jim Edmonds thing, which gives some hope for the trade-Crain bandwagon.

Dave: Hate to break it to you, but your declaration of Crain's talent and your declaration that he would fetch something in a trade and somewhat contradictory.

I have been asking in this forum for a trade of Jesse Crain for probably over a year.

He stinks. Let's package him up and get something for him. Maybe some sucker out there still thinks he's "closer material" like they did three and a half years ago...

It occurs to me that a bandwagon doesn't run on rails. I apologize for the mixed metaphor.

Swept at home, with all the losses by one run? That'll derail the bandwagon a little bit.
