Scottish designer Jonathan Saunders is rumored to be the next Target Go International designer. So I wanted to check out his New York runway show also his stateside debut. He’s wildly popular in Britain, where he’s already designed an affordable line for Top Shop.

His collection

The silhouettes were structured and fitted, employing color-blocking in panels. There were many pleated details (a major trend, as you surely know by now), but used in inventive ways–floating away from skirts like wings and dangling off of shoulders. Note the luxe fox fur hood.
According to the notes, Saunders was inspired by Irving Penn’s sand collages and Brancusi’s sculptures as well as classic science fiction. That would explain the futuristic slicked back hair styles and streamlined clothes.

I’m curious to see how this conceptual line might translate for the masses.
