Your shoes are ruining your feet

I don’t just mean high heels or the aforementioned Crocs, but also those highly supportive running shoes that you pay top dollar for too. Seriously. This article “You Walk Wrong” from New York magazine explains how in supporting your feet they cause you to walk in a bad way–leading to strain on parts of your body that are protected by walking barefoot. Yes, barefoot.
Actually, I went to college with a guy who walked barefoot year-round. We thought he was crazy, but apparently he was some sort of genius. The article highlights some of the new shoes that are simulate the benefits of walking barefoot–of course your body will hurt in readjusting to the new alignment and your poor feet aren’t used to less padding. Plus, they’re certainly not very stylish or even trying to be…yet.

I know Yale isn’t exactly in downtown New York, but still seems like an urban enough place that I wouldn’t want to be going around barefoot!
