Federal suit claims sexual harassment at Star Tribune

My colleague Jim Walsh has reported on a lawsuit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against the Star Tribune. The federal agency says female employees were subjected to a “sexually hostile work environment” in the mailroom. That’s the area of the Heritage printing plant in Minneapolis where the newspapers are packaged. My company has already denied the allegations, saying that some behavior was “inappropriate” but not illegal. Nevertheless, the company has instituted training for employees at the Heritage plant to “to reinforce the Star Tribune’s strong commitment to a respectful work environment…”

Reality TV show takes an unexpected plot twist

State moves to disbar onetime husband-wife lawyers

The end of the legal careers of Michael F. Swensen and Patricia Jean Ryerson, onetime husband-and-wife attorneys, can be traced to a mansion in Minneapolis, a house in Mound and a trail of forged signatures, falsified records and unethical real estate dealings.

In November 2007, the state disbarred Swensen, then said to be practicing in Minneapolis. Earlier this month, the state announced its plan to do the same with Ryerson, who’s based in Crystal. The two, who are no longer married, got involved in two real estate deals with a Wayzata woman who complained that she was deceived and defrauded by the lawyers and lost tens of thousands of dollars.
