NINY, If that's what Gabby's doing, to be a shrewed negotiator, well then that's a good move. Me personally, I don't think he's bright enough to think like that..I think, based on comments he's made through the year, he really would rather play in a more wide open eastern conference team. Sure he'd score a lot more goals and that's what matters to him, I'd rather have a SC.

As far as JL changing line combinations, I simply do not see the problem.

Sometimes, JL is looking for more defense, sometimes he is looking for matchups, sometimes he is looking for guys going to the net, sometimes he is just looking for a spark.

Well we've seen them look Bush league out there a lot of times, wondering WTF are they doing?, passing to people who aren't there, etc and that IS a direct result of not having line chemistry. You get used to having people do certain things, next thing you know you have someone new or 2 and have to re-learn it...Detoilet doesn't do that, SJ doesn't do that. Just because JL had success with that in other places doesn't mean it will work here with our players and their temperments, and so far, it hasn't.

I think KGopher mentioned last week about how playing with injuries can make a serious problem worse.

One more question now: Branko has been injured and played on that injury. Possibly he has a serious problem.

NiNY Buy two, get one? We've only got two. Gaborik and Radio. Demitra is a FA and so technically not tradeable unless we sign him then trade him.

That's exactly one of the reasons why Gaborik doesn't sit well with me. The fact that we have to sign another player just to keep him happy. I understand signing a player to play with another (he needs a center to complement) but to sign them simply because of a friendship?

Goody: fair point. Really, I think Gaby's worth another year. If he can stay healthy again then you can say he is no longer so injury prone. And I think if he can produce without Demo (assuming, for a second that Demo's gonzo) AND stay healthy it will exponentially raise his stock league-wide.

The problem is that you can't go into this season without extending him...or at least you don't want to. I think the thing to do is get a pulse on whether or not he's cool with losing Demo (maybe trying to trade for one of the Hossas??) and if he is then extend him. If not, then maybe have a "Buy Two Slovaks, Get One (Radio?) Free!" sale.

You can leave Malkin out of that list. He's on a rookie contract. He will command alot more money in the next couple of years.

AO's pay has gone up considerably over $3.8.
