Wild signs Dallas Stars winger Antti Miettinen
Posted on July 3rd, 2008 – 3:05 PMBy Michael Russo
That’ll be fun to write on deadline.
Wild said a couple hours ago that there would be a smaller signing this afternoon. It has indeed now confirmed this is it.
Antti Miettinen, 27, is a two-way forward who scored 15 goals and 34 points in 69 games last season for Dallas.
He had one goal, one assist in 15 playoff games.
Don’t know much about him, other than he competes and was a Finnish Elite League star in the early 2000s. The scoring hasn’t seemed to translate over here. Got a great scouting report on him from somebody I respect that I’ll post later.
He signed on for $2 million, $2.5 million, $2.5 million on a tres-year deal. Call it a 28th birthday present for the Wild.
Is this their lone winger acquisition now? I’ll ask when I speak to Mr. Risebrough or Mr. Lynn later today.
By the way, biggest loss of the offseason? You decide.
Brian Rolston, Pavol Demitra, Todd Fedoruk or Mike Vogt, the assistant athletic trainer who keeps Marian Gaborik’s groin healthy with a deep tissue massage?
Vogt became the head athletic trainer of Columbus today. Lots of luck to Mr. Vogt in the Buckeye State. Good guy.

I’m not touching the Vogt thing. Can’t say I blame him for wanting a new set of responsibilities, though.
i thought bandgeek was between the groins?
Did CBJ sign a Slovak???
vogt.
Why’d he only play 69 games? Injury? Brought up to replace someone?
And seriously, we’re comparing Miettinen to SRV and Branko? Miettinen had almost as many points as those two combined.
Biggest LOSER of the offseason? RISEDUMP !!
FIRE RISEDUMP NOW !!
DUMP THE DUMPPER !!
No Kidding, Michael. ‘Smaller’ signing? This is virtually microscopic. We have enough 3rd/4th line wingers now. Why another one? Centers, DR, centers, we need CENTERS (In case you have forgotten)…
The Mike Vogt hiring by Columbus is bigger news, especially for Gaborik. Good for Mike. Bad for Don Fuller (Wild athletic trainer, now he’ll have to help find a replacement for Mike) and especially bad for Gaborik. Worse for the Wild.
How ’bout all this good news? ![]()
Hopefully they didn’t sign Miettinen for too much.
Vogt is a friend of mine so I knew he was gone a few days ago. I’m happy for him.
Maybe the BJ’s are in need of someone to work the groin…
I’m predicting Naslund to NYR is a few mins, and that’s why we got this crap deal.
Russo, might as well ask them why they are paying this 25-30 point guy like a 60-point guy? Makes zero sense.
toivo…
He’s got upside. Sure they may have overpaid but I think he’s a 2nd line guy on the Wild. I think he’s got a shot to play next to Koivu too.
WRT…no denying they need a center.
Russo…didn’t the Wild read your rant on spending to the cap limit??? ![]()
So..do we have any ambition to have a Winger than can score more than a dozen goals a season?
That’ll be fun to write on deadline.
15 goals, Mikey. Might not write it much.
Miettinen missed a handful of games last season due to a GROIN injury!!!
wrt….
so so so so so true.
I think the only way i’ll really be upset about free agency is if we don’t come out of here with a center.
hello dr. defensive centers peca & fedorov are still available. please. they’re old, and you won’t have to have them for too long.
AM doesn’t even kill penalties. I am pretty upset. I hope he can live up to his salary. He is getting as much as Parrish and he better put up numbers.
What, is he some sort of groin mystic? I think Gaborik’ll get over it. Do we really have to cater to him ALL THE TIME?
It is in everyone’s best intrest he steps up and starts producing in his last contract year.
Reminder: Tuna, noodle, Naslund.
osh - Doh! and our groin guy’s gone!
I’m with you on this one, kj. Maybe more money and years than I’d like to see, but not the worst move in the world. Yes, still need a center.
I’m telling you, Vasicek. Unless Sundin’s coming of course. Where’s Schmidty? Hossa’s gone and that’s it? He needs to start pounding the Sundin drum. ![]()
sunshine…Parrish didn’t set the bar very high, did he??? ![]()
I think they are saying that Naslund has signed with NYR.
Is there really, at this point, anybody out there who disagrees with me that Ridedump is a complete stooge and shouldn’t be axed immediately?
He is getting as much as Parrish and he better put up numbers.
Numbers very comparable to Parrish’s last season.
Who are THEY?
I am in aggrement with you.
Well that is why I am upset at Parrish… he is making $2.5 + million and not even putting up 20 goals or at least the assists.
AM is going to the be the same way. We should have saved that money and gone after Peca. The only way we can get rid of him is waiving him. Not a very good signing at all.
Is there really, at this point, anybody out there who disagrees with me that Ridedump is a complete stooge and shouldn’t be axed immediately?
Pretty sure, yes.
toivo - williams over vasicek.
fedorov, peca, williams, vasicek
This is spending money for the sake of spending money == wrong move.
Another player heading for Dr. Rosenrosen?? Will the GTRCMBSHP accept Finnish players too?
I will be happy if AM does great but right now, I am very disappointed.
Wikipedia has Naslund playing for the Oilers right now.
Pretty sure, yes.
Toivo, so you’re on record as defending the Dumpper?
Down Rolston and up Brunette and Antti this FA period and you’re giving kudos to Risedump?
Peca 8-26 for 34 pts in 65 games last year. 35 games the previous year.
1.3 mil last year.
I suspect there is room for him on the roster - at least capwise.
I think he’s done tho…
Jason Williams… ![]()
KiPA - are you bombarding FOC with more material? I can’t get to the site anymore - just a lot of spinning Explorer logos…
Well that is why I am upset at Parrish… he is making $2.5 + million and not even putting up 20 goals or at least the assists.
Well, two years ago when Parrish signed, his salary was 6% of the cap. AM’s is only about 4.5%, so really he’s cheaper.
Hmm Peca–34 years old–8g 26a–same number of points as Antti. Don’t forget DR is still likely to get some center. Maybe through a trade or maybe Morrison or someone else.
its hard to make a splash and sign somebody when there was only one “splashy” free agent out there
I think that I will not be going to any games at the Xcel unless it’s the Habs, Pens, or Bolts. Probably a futile plan for motivating change. Maybe we should all go on strike? A fan lock-out?
I may just go down to Chicago and check out Huet’s new digs with my god-son!
Sather is having a press conference at 3:30 our time..major announcement at Rangers hq
It’s Miettinen’s birthday today.
Nice present ![]()
The GTRCMBSHP has announced a name change to GTRCMBEHP (Groin Treatment Rehabilitation Center Make Benefit European Hockey Players…
Not really, HD.
josh? wikipedia? really?
Would NYR consider signing Naslund a “major” announcement?
Next up you’ll see the Rangers announce signing Demitra, now that they’ve got Nazzy.
They have the cap room.
Toivo, so you’re on record as defending the Dumpper?
No, didn’t say that. I said that I’m pretty sure there are people who would disagree with you.
For the record, I think his results have been mixed and I don’t really have an opinion on him getting fired or not. And if I did, so what? Not my call, you know?
FOC is saying the Naslund to NYR is a 1-year $4.5M deal
Its still $2.5 million cap hit. If he can get us 20 goals, I will say he’s worth it. Right now, I just don’t really see it. Who is he going to play with? Gaborik? PMB? He shoots as much as PMB but he did play less minutes than PMB.
Let me rant for a little bit more. Then, I will calmly and rationally think this might not be so bad.
Ok, it’s cocktail time since it is a holiday. Boootleg? Pimms Cup? Campari and soda? Gibson? Can’t think about any more signings with that on my mind.
The cap hit is $2.3M.
This is hilarious, Miettinen is a good checking line right wing, but that’s it.
He’s worth $1 million at best
95% of Miettinen attempted shots hit the glass.
Well bad news for Gabby then. Who takes care of that groin now?
I think the blog could use come cheering up so here is a clip of Kim Johnnson talking about his offseason activities.
I gotta believe that CL has to be thinking about giving The Dumpper his walking papers.
Maybe the major announcement is that Sean Avery has removed his Yves Saint Laurent high-tops from the MSG locker room.
I like AM but with scoring 15, 11, and 11 goals over the last few seasons, he isnt the top forward…Ugh. Forget Peca. Forget those old role players. Im sick of role players. We need game changers. Impact players. Unfortunately doesnt look like that will happen.
Nah, NYR was the only other team besides Van and MN to be in the Naslund running. I will tell ya this though, Gillis is gonna get murdered in the Vancouver press tomorrow am.
Jason, dumpster-diving at Manny’s versus dumpster-diving at Mr. Steak.
Who is he going to play with? Gaborik?
I’d guess at least a few shifts, yes. ![]()
okay $2.3 million cap hit.
Demo to NYR, I bet
I gotta believe that CL has to be thinking about giving The Dumpper his walking papers.
Don’t stop believing!
toivu:
make me feel better about this deal, help me understand that is a good move at a good price. i really need it.
“Maybe the major announcement is that Sean Avery has removed his Yves Saint Laurent high-tops from the MSG locker room.”
I think it’s more like an announcement that his internship at Men’s Vogue went so well that they offered him a full time job covering men’s briefs, so he is retiring from hockey forever to write about banana hammocks.
Ok, so we get good pickups in Zid, Bergeron, and Weller.
We overspend on Miettinen.
We lose out getting:
Hossa, Huselius, and Naslund
sunshine: if it helps, I’d thought about him for the Pens.
That’s um. All I’ll say.
Yet another year of promises and NOTHING!!!!
FOC just went offline lol
sunshine: That was my bet too.
sunshine - I’m not as concerned with “overpaying” when it’s only $2.3m. So, by how much have they realistically overpaid - $500k? It’s more of a problem paying $4.5m for a player more deserving of $3m.
Don’t forget about losing Rolston…
I am really starting to get a complex sunshine.
Maybe you don’t like the Miettinen signing because I do??? ![]()
Rangers sign Naslund, Kalinin
&^@#%$@#!
Was Naslund, in fact, a 1 year deal?
The clowns in the front office are laughing their a$$es off that they suckered the Wild fans, yet another year…
HD, yes, that’s what I read.
KiPA:
Thanks. For me, its the price, I am concerned with. I like to feel that we got a good deal, that’s all.
Naslund was true to his words. He wasn’t going to play for a divisional rival. I didn’t think we really had a chance with him anyways.
Ass-clows you should say. Let’s not besmirch the reputations of clowns now.
Ass-clowns you should say. Let’s not besmirch the reputations of clowns now.
It is on NHL.com
sunshine,
I think he’s a decent player. $2.3MM is a bit steep, but not outrageous, and isn’t going to hamstring the cap, either. If he scores 15 goals, we’ll be happy.
Vasicek just signed a 2-year deal in Russia.
Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah (look everyone I’m Mike!) Blah blah blah Dumper, blah blah blah Fire blah Dump blah blah waste blah blah blah blah blah. Blah blah blah Dumper blah blah Dumper blah blah Dumper blah blah blah.
Hey, at least now we have the Finnish Mafia up and running again with Koivu, Backstrom and AM
Nasland is a classy guy and I am VERY sad he is not going to be with us..but I respect his wish not to play vs us
Well, I am off to chase a little white ball around the lush green carpet that is known as a golf course.
I trust you’ll do your best to rip and commend DR in your own ways… ![]()
ATX…I almost sprayed my computer with diet coke. LOL.
[…] The Minnesota wild signed Stars forward Antti Miettinen to a three-year, $7 million deal. […]
Hamstring the cap?? What’s the worry at this point? All the decent FAs are gone and there’s no hope that Gabby will stick around joke organization.
Want to keep Gabby? Can the Dumpper’s ass as soon as possible to give Gabby hope that change is soon on the way. Otherwise he’ll likely be skating with his buddy Hossa with the Wings.
Vasicek just signed a 2-year deal in Russia.
Well there goes that! ![]()
ATX just shoved his head up Risedump’s ass. Look, he likes it!!
For me, its the price, I am concerned with. I like to feel that we got a good deal, that’s all.
Lil pricey maybe but I think he’s got some nice potential.
Man, if vasicek goes, does that mean fedorov is out too?
c’mon russo ville, chant with me!
fe-dor-ov! fe-dor-ov!
I’ve been away….but have we signed a CENTER yet?
TSN: 2 years for Naslund
ATX…I almost sprayed my computer with diet coke. LOL.
ATX lololol, I did spit out my corn dog
Who else is pining for Peca, right now? How about $5 million for 2 years for him?
“ATX…I almost sprayed my computer with diet coke. LOL.”
Kj, I seriously can’t believe you like the AL deal… I like it too, but I am just shocked that you don’t have anything negative to say about it.
ATX lololol, I did spit out my corn dog
Just as long as you didn’t spit ON your corndog….That’s just creepy.
Thanks guys, I’ll be here all week. ![]()
naslund to rags
What is up with Morrison? His agent sent out medical reports and he hasn’t signed with anyone?
bfw, yeah.. that would be creepy. I probably wouldn’t even mention that.
Sunshine, I’m pining for Peca or Fedorov right now, but I don’t think we have a prayer with S-Fed, and I think Peca will want too much $$$.
Personally I think we’re screwed unless we trade for someone at C.
RUSSO, WTF IS GOING ON OVER AT WILD.HQ? They saying anything at this point, other than “DOH!”?
A trade for C is looking more likely… I really hope it doesn’t involve PMB though… I would hate to see him go.
finally…a replacement for Nummy in the shootout…all those Fins are money 1-on-1, right?
Just to manage expectations, all the big guys (that we might have had a shot with, as in, not sundin) are out now.
In other words, we’re not getting any of them. Go ahead and get your frustrations out about it now.
yes! peca or fedorov! join the fun MuN!
ATX: PMB for Jokinen?
why hasn’t the signing been posted on tsn?
This guy skated a lot of the time on Dallas’ top line with Morrow and Ribeiro, give the guy a chance. They got him for maybe more money than they should have but oh well. There is no reason to spend money on players who aren’t worth it just to spend money. Honestly, how many of you really thought Rolston would have been as good as he was when we signed him? Just because you sign a player, that doesn’t mean he will fit the system and be productive. This is a younger, solid two-way player who might produce some points. With the guys left in FA, there are no sure things except that they will all want a lot of money even if they aren’t worth it. I know people are probably hoping to get Naslund but he’s 35 and his production has been decreasing each season and he’ll probably want a ton of money. If we can get him cheaply then he’s worth it. Just don’t overpay like so many teams out there are right now!
Charlie, we just bought water at the price of gas.
Scott Howson: Hey Doug, it’s Howson.
DR: Howson…Howson…??
SH: You know, GM in Columbus.
DR: Of course! Hey Scotty, long time no talk, eh?
SH: Right. Hey, what do you want for your trainer?
DR: ……….quoi?
SH: Mike Vogt. I’m calling to see what you want in compensation for him. Like a trade.
DR: Wait, did Fletcher put you up to this?
SH: No, really.
DR: Well, I don’t know. I didn’t even realize we could trade those guys.
SH: I was thinking, like a 6th round pick.
DR: Uhh…you know, we really don’t even consider those as having any value.
SH: Hardball, eh? I like it. Okay, how about a 5th round pick.
DR: Those either.
SH: Fourth? But that’s as high as I’ll go.
DR: Really?
SH: Yep.
DR: Sh!t. Okay, tell you what. Just take him.
SH: For nothing?
DR: Yeah. I can’t do anything with a 4th.
SH: Done. Nice doing business with you.
DR: You too - go trap!
Ok, I’m outta here.
But first, a quick review of our “success” in drawing in UFA’s. (And, please: Draw your own conclusions. Note: this is by no means a comprehensive list.)

Naslund: nope.
Huselius: nope.
Orpik: nope.
Foster: check.
Hainsey: nope.
Avery: nope.
Hossa: nope.
Ryder: nope.
Streit: nope.
Weller: check.
Redden: nope.
Holik: nope.
Hagman: nope.
Rozsival: nope.
Metropolit: nope.
Rolston: nope.
Commodore: nope.
Campbell: nope.

Voros: nope.
Finger: nope.
Fedoruk: nope.
Sauer: nope.
Brunette: check.
Vrbata: nope.
Dupuis: nope.
Stuart: nope.
Salvador: nope.
So, would we project AM as a 2nd line guy, perhaps to play with PMB? I presume Gabby and Bruno would spend most of their ice time together. SRV and i don’t know who to check.
Where does Parrish fit it on this team anymore?
“ATX: PMB for Jokinen?”
We already know how that one turns out.
“SRV and i don’t know who to check.”
Weller or Clutterbuck probably?
Smolinski rumors?
I wonder who’d win in a race between Smolinski and Bruno?
That is a great question, HockeyDad. Where does Parrish fit and will JL let him in?
Race to the Outhouse?
Where does Parrish fit it on this team anymore?
The real question is: DOES Parrish fit on this team anymore?
Weller is more of an energy guy that can be transformed into a checking guy.
He didn’t fit on it for most of last year. Use him as part of a trade for a C.
Is KiPA around?
*peers around the corner*
I have an uneasy feeling about this whole Bruno thing. I mean, when he played for us he was “too slow” so he goes off to Colorado, plays with the likes of Sakic, Forsberg, Smith and now he’s got all kinds of potential. Is anybody else a little confused about this? We don’t have a Sakic, Forsberg or even a Smith.
I think we need PMB more than we need Parrish. If we could even get decent center for him, I would be grateful.
Use him as part of a trade for a C.
Good luck with that.
I hate to admit this but I always forget about Parrish when I list our forwards or put him on the lines.
If you ask me Dougie apologizes way too much for skrewing up! He needs use the money more efficiently and use the cap to put together a winning team that players are proud to play for. Yes the wild run a great “business” but there is more to the sport than making money. The fans will always be here but the players obviously will not be if they dont believe in what the team is doing.
I don’t think Bruno’s slowness went away. Avs fans have that as maybe their one and only complaint about him.
“Wikipedia has Naslund playing for the Oilers right now.”
It also has Demitra signing a new deal here.
Maybe Parrish was just going thru a little “Luongo” phase. You know, first baby and all. Or maybe JL has messed with his head too much and he doesn’t fit on the team anymore.
Ok. Here goes:
(And KiPA, I apologize in advance. I’m duckin’ out right after this, but just HAD to do it.)
Ok. Whaddya call Marion Hossa with a Stanley Cup ring?
I dunno.
A Red Wing.
ouch….
[head swivels over to KiPA’s side of the court]
*runs like hell!*
low blow bfw.
awww, c’mon. HE started it.
[keeps runnin’]
How about Peca for $3 million?
peterpiperpickedapeckofpickledpeca’s
he made $1.3M last year on a cap hit of 1.9M, sunshine. If he hasn’t been signed by now my guess it’s because his phone isn’t ringing off the hook.
I’d be happier with like $2.5M
Rob Blake to Sharks??
2yr/8m for Naslund. Think we matched? I just don’t think he wanted to come here.
(Boy, sounds familiar.)
Wouldn’t it be funny if the Wings and the Pens end up in the playoffs next year and the Pens win it?
Highly unlikely but it would be a pisser.
Stars fan here. I’ve watched Miettinen underachieve for three years straight. This is too much money for what he will produce in Minny.
The fact he played with Dallas’s top line of Morrow and Ribeiro and could not hold down that spot for the entire season and produce at a higher rate should tell you something. He was a healthy scratch at times and got moved down the lineup after failing to succeed when given a shot at the top two lines.
He’s physical and will hit, but I would not call him a two-way winger. He didn’t kill penalties for Dallas. He has a decent shot, but it misses the net a lot.
I wish the kid the best, but I do not think playing in a defensive system under Lemaire is going to help him. He’s not going to produce to justify that kind of money. I would have been more excited for him if he went somewhere that played a little more wide open.
I hope I’m wrong and that he does well, but I just cannot see it happening.
No excuse me while I try and talk (drink) myself into the Avery signing, when Naslund got the same amount of money on a shorter term.
Blake to SJ - 1 yr/$5M. Demi Moore re-signed by Leafs
Stars fan here. I’ve watched Miettinen underachieve for three years straight. This is too much money for what he will produce in Minny.
Uh oh.
—-
That’s it. I’m outta here.
Have a Happy and safe 4th, all.
I am sure Peca will go somewhere else and we will find a super scorer (in DR Terminology 11 goals per season) whom we have never heard of for 3.5 per year. That seems to be the WILD trend.
Then again..imagine if you are a Vancouver fan? They are in the same boat as us..lost lost and lost.
bfw: I don’t think Naslund was coming here either just because we are in the same division as Vancouver.
Do you think the Wild is going to push Foster’s return to after the trade deadline? If they are hoping to have 2 or 3 slots open for rookies, they will need his spot or we will have a Koivu-Moore situation in January.
Thanks for the info Bandito. Sounds not so promising… but hopefully you are wrong.
Another Finnish guy - nice! I would like to announce that the Antti Miettinen fan club is open and accepting applications.
We even have a slogan, “When three t’s aren’t enough.”
I hope I’m wrong, I like the kid (met him before). Just trying to offer some unbiased analysis. Minny does not seem like a great fit for him.
Geeze I get home and everyone else leaves. Guess thats what I get for taking my vacation after the 4th. So as to a few earlier comments…..
G* I play between the groins, I don’t give them deep tissue massages.
Austin…. “blah, blah blah….” LMAO!!!!! Good thing I didn’t have food or anything in my mouth.
Have a happy 4th everyone.
Then again..imagine if you are a Vancouver fan? They are in the same boat as us..lost lost and lost.
but…they’re in Canada…how can that possibly be?!? Don’t tell me: it’s Lemaire’s system.
no worries, Bandito, thanks for the scouting report. It’s just that, as Wild fans, we’ve never had a fan of the former team of a newly signed Wild free agent come here and say “Man I’m jealous, this guys is awesome, busts his hump every night and was a total fan favorite. I’m literally crying right now because we lost him.”
PS: I didn’t realize any Stars fans knew about complex sentence structure, so, you’ve got that going for you. (I kid.)
The Wild aren’t done yet. They haven’t signed any Euro players who previously failed miserably in the NHL but are expected to fill out the roster yet.
Crud. Well, maybe AM will flourish here. Our last Stars pickup did, eh.
Bummer on Naslund but I understand a) wanting to NOT play in the NWD and b) wanting to play for the Rangers (far far away from the Sedinbots). Good for all involved.
I’ve been out skating and lunching, so I’m late to say, Thanks for the prospect camp list, Russo. That should keep me occupied for a good long while learning about these “invitees”… Maybe the paper doesn’t want reports from camp but I sure as hell do. Don’t suppose you could sneak a fancy phone in with video capability… ![]()
Wallshot:
I think the Hurricanes did that. They signed two players who fit that bill exactly.
ms. conduct:
I hope Falness or wild.com does do a short overview and interviews with some of these prospects. There was one or two video clips from last’s prospect camp on Wild TV.
I love it! Yes wallshot..you are right. But remember..these are players with long term groin injuries that will not get along with JL
He’s physical and will hit, but I would not call him a two-way winger. He didn’t kill penalties for Dallas. He has a decent shot, but it misses the net a lot.
so, basically he’s a Finnish Foster.
I just read the NY papers..looks like Jagr is not returning to NYR.
HEY…Maybe the WILD??? we could add another Czech guy to team Slovakia?
Wallshot:
I think the Hurricanes did that. They signed two players who fit that bill exactly.
AH HA HA HA, So DR lost out on them TOO?? Bummer… ![]()
I’ve watched Miettinen over the past few years with the Stars. He was always supposed to put up bigger numbers but never could seem to crack the code in the NHL. Overall, I’d say he was a disappointment with the Stars, aside from a 20-25 game stretch last season when he played RW on a line with Brenden Morrow and Mike Ribeiro. Miettinen was nearly a point-per-game player during that stretch. He eventually tailed off a bit and found himself down the lineup again. He made $885,000 last season following an arbitration decision. I wouldn’t expect big things from him unless he miraculously “cracks the code”. Definitely needs more talented linemates to get production out of him. Oh, and the guy misses the net with his shots more than anyone I’ve ever seen. Watch out if you’re sitting behind the glass at the X!
Get on it, Falness. You still owe me for the Fridge “Deep in the Heart of Texas” miss.
from wild.com:
“Antti will add speed to our lineup, score goals and compete hard, a combination that will mesh well with our team identity,” said Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough. “And he’s just 28-years-old. His best hockey is ahead of him.”
translation: we project him as a more skilled Radio and any OH-fence we get from him is gravy.
Do you think I could sell a course in Risebroughese to the Berlitz people?
Kinda interesting in that of the guys they have added this summer, Zid, MAB and Miettinen all have big shots.
Kinda interesting anyway.
I just read an interview with Zidlicky on a czech website. Main points: Didn´t expect to be traded but thinks it´s better during the offseason than during the season. He called Demo and plans to call Skoula to learn more about MN. He sees the Wild as a new opportunity and is motivated to do very well.
Sunshine,
PECA is so old and washed up, spending 1.5 a year on him would be too much.
Folks, it is obvious that the Wild did little to address their needs this offseason. Be prepared for a 2008-2009 season at about .500 and no playoffs.
THe good news is that we will have a better draft position, and money to spend on a much better FA class next summer.
In the meantime, I hope the kids (Clutterbuck, Gilles, Hamilton, Benoit, etc.) are given plenty of ice time this season for the Wild.
They can all skate too. Skate and shoot.
Well one of the three should be able to hit the net, right?
“so, basically he’s a Finnish Foster.”
NINY - that is exactly what I was thinking! LOL
““Man I’m jealous, this guys is awesome, busts his hump every night and was a total fan favorite. ”
I had an Avs fan say that about Bruno yesterday.
Austin: fair enough…I stand corrected.
FOOD
Tuna, noodle, Nothing.
In other news:
Felicitations Georges Laraque! Go HABS Go! OUAIS!
whoa that’s a lot of money for miettinen, he’d be a great signing at half that for sure, but talk about over paying when your already getting close to the cap…no huselius, no naslund, no center? DR you’re losing any good will you built up with me by getting MZ and bruno…
I hope Falness or wild.com does do a short overview and interviews with some of these prospects. There was one or two video clips from last’s prospect camp on Wild TV.
Falness?? The entire FSN crew is worse than any bottom-feeding acquisition DR has ever made - I’d love to trade them ALL for a cheeseburger. That’s all they are worth. Our TV announcers, and studio hosts just plain suck ass. I mean, even Florida has some capable guys, and Denis Potvin as the color guy too! If they can get some decent talent in, why the hell can’t we???
As for Zid calling Demo to find out about “here”… Uh oh.
I don’t like to get down on DR or JL. To this point they’ve at least been marginally successful with defense and development of young players. but this is just too much.
Risebrough, you want to know how to resign Gaborik? give him ANYTHING he asks for. if you screw things up with Gaborik, so help me! You just make me so mad!
I hate you and I hate your ass face.
Hope AM works out for MN. Hopefully change of scenery will help.
Stars have not been ‘draft wizards’ either, so dont feel too bad.
We need goal scoring too….was hoping for Ralston, got Avery..yuk!
Mike, I am not critical of DR.
Drew,
Then you haven’t watched Dupuis when he was with the Wild….
Fast, good pker, just couldn’t hit the damn net
Russo, what is up with Eric Lindros, is he still playing, he is not on Dallas’s roster. He would be a nice addition to our team for size and goal scoring, what do you think.
