Wolves 99, Clippers 90

Lottery chances be darned, the Wolves just keep winning, their fourth in the last six games. More notably, it is their 16th of the season, which means, with nearly five weeks still left in the season, they’ve made sure they won’t be the worst team in Timberwolves’ history.

Jimmy Rodgers’ 1991-92 bunch keeps that record, at 15-67.

“No, you can tell me,” guard Randy Foye said when asked if he knew what the significance of Monday’s victory over the injury-depleted, road-worn Clippers was.

When told, he said, “That’s good then. My name is not in the record book.”

With each victory you might see Michael Beasley or Derrick Rose slipping away. Marko Jaric, though, doesn’t have his lottery-lensed spectacles on.

“We need to win these kinds of games if we want to be a playoff team some day,” he said. “These are the games we are supposed to win. That is the difference between the start of the season and now. Before, the games we were supposed to win, we flopped. These games, we’re finally finishing strong.”

Etc.

You didn’t find many Timberwolves celebrating their Irish roots on Monday because, well, there just aren’t many. But the Wolves’ Serbian guard was wearing a shade of green nonetheless, which led what fellow in the locker room after the game to call him Mark O’Jaric.

The Wolves have gone from having the second highest percentage to the fourth highest percentage in the lotto, in less than a week! At this rate they might lose that draft pick to the Clippers!?!

Um no, they won’t be losing the pick to the Clippers… idiot.

BC: good call. play hard, play to win. i’ll laugh my ass if Miami doesn’t drops in the lottery. life has its ways of evening things out.

Calm down. It was a joke, the Wolves don’t lose the pick unless they fall out of the top 10. Right now they are tied for third worst, and even if they finish strong it’s pretty hard to see them finishing any higher than the 6th or 7th worst record. I still think they could catch the Knicks and maybe the Clippers.

I wouldn’t mind if they lost the rest of their games though.

So what if she did… wow lay off.

Obviously we won’t lose our pick. We’d have to win close to 30 games to get the 10th worst record. Lame “joke.”

which is exactly why i said ‘good call’. you’re telling me to lay off? you’re the one who jumped down my throat pal…remember?
of course it was lame–its was directed at you.

Actually if the Wolves finished with the 8th worst record they could get the 10 pick in the draft if 2 of the teams with better records jumped up in the lottery. That is why the Wolves tanked games at the end of last year, to assure themselves of getting a top 10 pick. They still have 16 games left and they could pretty easily win at least half of those. Have you looked at the rest of their schedule? I see you really know your basketball.

Hey Jama,

You are the one that obviously doesn’t know your NBA lottery. First off, the Wolves would have to have the 11th pick idiot. Not the 10th. Do you have ANY IDEA the odds that would have to happen for THREE teams to leapfrog the Wolves at #8… pushing us back to #11? Obviously not. Take some basic stat’s classes please.

McHale and Wittman can’t even lose right.

Idiots.

Are they making a playoff run?

Fewer balls. Much like Taylor for not firing these idiots.

You are putting all this work in for a little joke I made? My point was that the Wolves need to stop winning ASAP. I’m already expecting them to drop a spot or two in the lottery, so that means they’ll be picking in that 5 or 6 range again. UGGHH

jama says:

I realized that they would have to fall to #11 but knowing this teams luck it could happen.

Nice “joke.” Maybe you should be more positive rather than such a pessimist. Losing begets losing.

jama says:

They’ve already lost 50 games this season. So if “losing begets losing” I think they are in trouble. Another 13 or 14 losses isn’t going to hurt them anymore than the 50 losses they already have.

Of course I am pessimistic about this team. They have one real bona fide starter on their roster. They already owe a future 1st round pick to the Clippers. They still have Wittman as a head coach. They still have McHale as their GM. I don’t see a whole lot of goods things on this team other than Al Jefferson and owning a couple of late first round picks that they are going to get from the Heat and Celtics.

BC Beneke says:

Jama, you are a terrible NBA mind.

jama says:

March 18th, 2008 at 12:08 pm

Please give me the positives of this team. Really how optimistic can you be right now? I guarantee I could be a bette GM than you. How we prove this I’m not quit sure, so I’ll leave that up to you.

BC Beneke says:

Please stop making a fool out of yourself.

jama says:

BC

Can you add anything worth while to this conversation? All you do is tell us how much you hate McHale and that is about it. How about some constructive criticism or some things that are going well? I still haven’t seen you write one intelligent thing that adds to any of the conversations.
